Dr. Brooke Slavens, PhD and Dr. Matthew Hanks, PhD, ATC attended the XXVII Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) held in conjunction with the 43rd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from July 31-August 4, 2019. Dr. Slavens and Dr. Hanks are active members of the American Society of Biomechanics and presented posters of their research conducted in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Mobility Lab. Both posters were eligible for the ASB President’s Award.
Dr. Slavens presented research investigating glenohumeral joint dynamics associated with geared manual wheelchair ramp ascent in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). Dr. Hanks presented research conducted with the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee investigating upper extremity joint kinematics in able-bodied lacrosse players and wheelchair lacrosse players with spinal cord injuries (SCI).
