Brief Bio
I retired in May 2016. Prior to that I taught masters degree and continuing education courses on information/knowledge organization, metadata, cataloging, information architecture, linked data and ontologies. From roughly 1995 through 2015 I gave numerous conference presentations and workshops, developed workshop materials published by the Library of Congress and OCLC, and served on committees and held leadership positions in several national-level professional organizations. The second edition of my textbook Metadata for Digital Collections was published by ALA Neal-Schuman in July 2022. In retirement I enjoy reading for pleasure in English, as well as ancient Greek literature both in English translation and in the original Greek language (Homeric and Classical Attic Greek), attending performing arts of all kinds (especially opera), bicycling, rowing, and travel in North America and Europe.
