Vision

The mhSEVA Lab exists to contribute to a world free of violence, oppression, and abuse through community-inspired, survivor-informed research and resources.

Mission

The mission of the mhSEVA Lab is to promote reciprocal innovation in global mental health, focusing on designing, testing and disseminating evidence-based mental health interventions for vulnerable populations, globally. The lab focuses on studying links between social-contextual etiology of mental health disorders with recovery models, access and uptake of contextually-valid treatment approaches, social support networks and resource capital, to ultimately inform actionable policy reform through collaborative research and community-centered interventions. We aim to build a model of knowledge-sharing that leverages local expertise across partner sites, fostering two-way exchanges to develop effective, culturally adaptive mental health care solutions. By collaborating with community leaders and health professionals, we seek to empower refugee populations and address the unique social, structural, and mental health challenges they face. Ultimately, our goal is to drive evidence-based policy change that strengthens support systems for refugees worldwide.
