During the 2005-2006 academic year, the various units that support students of color formed the Multicultural Student Center Committee (MSCC) to share information, resources, and guide programs and activities. The committee comprised of selected multicultural and diversity program directors and coordinators, and student representatives from each of the racial/ethnic groups and was chaired by Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Climate, Michael Powell. From 2009 to 2011, the name changed to Multicultural Coordinating Committee (MCC), which was chaired by the Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Climate, Cheryl Ajirotutu. Committee members included representatives from the campus-wide multicultural offices.
The group revised its name to Multicultural Centers Network (MCN) during the 2011-2012 school year. MCN comprised of representatives from the African American Student Academic Services, American Indian Student Center, Black Student Cultural Center, Roberto Hernández Center, and the Southeast Asian-American Student Services; and their respective academic department/faculty counterparts: Gary Williams, Joyce Kirk, Chia Youyee Vang, Kris Ruggiero, and David Beaulieu. In the fall of 2013, the Multicultural Network (MCN) at UW-Milwaukee was created.
