Overview of Training at the EQUITY Research Group

Research Training:

Members of the EQUITY Research Group include trainees at different career levels including undergraduate, master’s, doctorate, and post-doctorate. We offer training in the following research areas, methods, and approaches:

  • Health equity research
  • Community-engaged research methods
  • Implementation science
  • Psychosocial intervention development 
  • Cultural adaptations of interventions
  • Human-centered design
  • Quantitative, qualitative, & mixed-methods 
  • Program evaluation
  • Multicultural education curriculum design

Professional Development:

We are committed to supporting members of our team in launching to the next step of their career. To this end, members of the EQUITY Research Group also receive support in the areas of:

Positions

Post-Doctoral Fellows

Individuals who are completing or have recently completed a PhD, PsyD or equivalent degree in psychology or related fields (e.g., public health, social work, nursing, psychiatry) may apply to work under the guidance of Dr. Nagy to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in the EQUITY Research Group within the Department of Psychology at UWM. Post-doctoral fellows can expect to receive advanced and specialized training in a range of areas including, but not limited to: 

  • Developing an independent line of research
  • Grantsmanship 
  • Execution of funded projects (e.g., budgeting, completing progress reports, study monitoring, etc)
  • Professional development mentorship to be competitive for academic positions
  • Lab organization, leadership, and management
  • Mentorship of less-advanced team members (e.g., undergraduate/volunteer research interns, graduate students)
  • Fostering partnerships with community and academic partners
  • Accrual of clinical hours for licensure
  • Dissemination of research findings through academic outlets (e.g., peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations), as well as through community-based settings  

Fellows will receive mentorship and guidance from Dr. Nagy to lead their own individual projects to be competitive for academic positions. In addition, fellows will partner with Dr. Nagy to provide oversight and mentorship to other lab projects. In this capacity, fellows will support team members at earlier stages of training (e.g., graduate students, undergraduate students).  

Fellows may also accrue clinical hours toward licensure through direct clinical care and supervision of graduate students through the EQUITY Clinic housed within the Psychology Department Clinic at UWM, under the supervision of Dr. Nagy.  

There are no open post-doc positions at this time. 

Professional Staff Members

Periodically, there may be opportunities for professional roles (half-time or part-time) within the EQUITY Research Group including, but not limited to:

  • Lab managers
  • Study coordinators
  • Clinical research assessors
  • Community outreach workers
  • Community health workers or promotores de salud
