Lake Malawi Water Quality Report

From 1996 to 1999 a major research effort was conducted on Lake Malawi as part of the Lake Malawi/Nyasa Biodiversity Conservation Project, which was supported by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the UK Department for International Development (DFID).  One of the goals of this project was to better understand the relationships between land use, water quality, and the health of the lake’s species-rich fish community, and to use this understanding to guide management and policy.  The results of the water quality component of this project are provided here.
