This study explores middle school student perspectives on school climate for diversity in association with outcomes of grades, behavior, school belonging, and school engagement. Further, we seek to understand how these associations may be moderated by race and/or gender.
Current Study: Belonging Beyond the Binary: Extracurricular Involvement & School Belonging Among LGBT Youth
This study investigates the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in rural and urban schools, focusing on their extracurricular involvement and its impact on their sense of belonging and engagement. We aim to examine the participation gap, find associations with belonging and engagement, and examine geographic differences.
Current Study: School Connectedness: A Systematic Review
This study reviews the last 10 years of work in school connectedness in an investigation of variables that have been shown to be associated with school connectedness and drive future work.
