Father Inclusive Prenatal Care (FIPC)

What is Father Inclusive Prenatal Care or FIPC?

FIPC is a new program to help fathers and mothers get ready for the transition to parenthood. This program is part of the Father Inclusive Prenatal Care Project – a collaboration between Rush University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and various prenatal care clinics in Chicago.

What does this involve?

  • Tips to boost communication skills
  • Education for parents about newborn care
  • Resources for education, employment, and other services

One size does not fit everyone: The FIPC model is flexible because different people need different sorts of support.

Who is eligible?

  • Pregnant women between the ages of 17-25
  • An expectant father between the ages of 18-29
  • Both expectant parents must participate at the same time
  • The program is free and open to all couples regardless of their immigration or insurance status.
  • If a parent is under 18 years old, we will need to get their parent or legal guardian’s written consent

What are the incentives for participating?

Each parent can earn up to $230 for completing the FIPC program!

  • $10 for each session they complete with a FIPC provider (up to 15 meetings) for a total of $150.
  • $50 gift card for baby supplies per couple
  • $25 gift card after attending the first meeting with our career development partner
  • $30 gift card after completing an exit interview at the program graduation
