Who can participate in FIPC?
Currently, we are recruiting expectant parents through several prenatal care clinics and schools.
To be eligible:
- Expectant fathers must be between the ages of 18-29.
- Expectant mothers must be between the ages of 17-25.
- If the expectant mother is under 18 years old, they will need their parent or legal guardian’s written consent.
Frequently asked Questions:
- Do me and my baby’s other parent need to be together?
No, couples do not need to be married or be in a romantic relationship.
- What if I don’t speak English?
Both English and Spanish speaking expectant parents are welcome.
- Can immigrants without documentation participate?
Yes, the study is open to all couples regardless of their immigration status.
- Does this cost anything?
No, FIPC is a free service, and we will pay you to participate.
What are the Incentives for Participating?
- Both mothers and fathers are each paid a $25 gift card for just coming to the 1st meeting and another $40 gift card after completing the interview and questionnaires.
- Also, FIPC couples will get to pick out a free pair of shoes (Florsheim, Stacy Adams, Bogs, Forever). See the shoe incentive guide below for details regarding shoe selection.
- Additional incentives are available for those who participate in other FIPC services
