Summary This is a video recording of a webinar from the 2023-24 Fall/Winter “AI in Libraries” series hosted by the CENL (Conference of European National Librarians). The presentation, delivered by Yves Maurer from the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL), introduces a library chatbot launched in October 2023, that indexes the library’s entire digitized newspaper collection. The chatbot allows users to search and explore this collection through a conversational interface, which enables users to find relevant information based on meaning rather than exact keywords. The system also supports search in French, German, Luxembourgish, English and was integrated to the portal of the digital collection (eluxemburgensia.lu). The presentation covers the core technologies behind the chatbot, its integration into the portal, and includes a live demonstration. It also addresses use cases and limitations, such as the issues of LLM hallucinations, where the GPT model may invent information that is not accurate. The video is freely and openly viewable through web browsers. The presentation slides are available for download in PDF format. A link to the full “AI in Libraries” webinar series is also provided (see Link field).
