Summary In Counting Feminicide: Data Feminism in Action, D’Iganzio highlights the efforts of data activists who meticulously document the gender-related killing of women and girls, ultimately filling the critical gaps in official records. Through this review, D’Iganzio introduces a four-phase restorative data science framework consisting of: 1) resolving, as a motivation for data collection, 2) researching, as a motivation for case identification, 3) recording, as a motivation for report restructuring and 4) refusing, as a motivation to leverage counterdata to encourage justice and remembrance. D’Iganzio argues that using data science techniques to account for “invisible” victims is a powerful catalyst for insuring the preservation of human dignity and rights.
