Summary | This article discusses the integration of AI and machine learning (ML) in the Smithsonian Institution. It presents the potential of using AI to automate tasks, such as image segmentation, object recognition, and natural language processing. Through integrating AI and ML, digital collections and archives could become more discoverable and searchable with enhanced description (e.g., tags). Recognizing the potential ethical concerns of applying AI and ML at scale, the article also presents the process of developing an AI Values Statement and an implementation plan. The link to the AI Values Statement is available in the Link information above. | |
