Summary This is the final report of one of the research studies of the InterPARES Trust AI project, which dedicates to leveraging AI to support the access of public records, research, training, and establishing partnership between academia, archival institutions, government agencies, and industry. The goals of this project include identifying the benefits and risks of applying AI to records and archives, and ensuring that archival principles and concepts support responsible AI. Recognizing the necessity to manage records in digital repositories, the authors of this study conducted literature review, survey, and focus groups interviews to investigate how AI may assist in record management by improving record retention and disposition. Besides the final report, the authors compiled an annotated bibliography and a survey report, both are available freely and openly online.
