| Summary | This resource is the final report of the 2023 PCC Task Group on AI and Machine Learning for Cataloging and Metadata. Formed in December 2023, the task group assessed AI’s current impact on cataloging through a survey distributed in March 2024. The survey collected 193 responses. The report presents an analysis of the survey results, identifies six themes, provides seven recommendations, outlines three action items for the PCC (i.e., engage with broader communities of metadata stakeholders, promote a culture of technological pluralism and sustained relevance, and assess and improve how the PCC stores and shares knowledge), and compiles AI-related resources to be shared via the PCC Wiki. |
