Summary | The authors found that generative AI tools like ChatGPT can be “connected to many of the knowledge practices and dispositions from the six frames of the ACRL Framework.” The six frameworks are namely Authority is constructed and contextual, Information creation as a process, Information has value, Research as inquiry, Scholarship as conversation, and Searching as strategic exploration. On one hand, the Framework enables librarians to embrace generative AI tools. The potentials and value-adding of incorporating generative AI tools into information literacy instruction is exciting. On the other hand, the Framework’s discussion regarding the evaluation of authority and the examination of bias emphasizes ethical concerns regarding ethical AI application in libraries.
