Caroline Seymour-Jorn is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature and Arabic Translation at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She conducts research on Arabic, and specifically Egyptian, literature and art as social discourse. She is the author of Cultural Criticism in Egyptian Women’s Writing: Anthropological and Literary Perspectives (2011), and her ongoing projects include a new book project, Envisioning the New Society in Revolutionary and Post-Revolutionary Egyptian Art, Literature and Popular Culture, and the Muslim Milwaukee Project, a collaboration with Sunni Muslim leaders that explores the basic dimensions of the Milwaukee Muslim community, describing how Muslims negotiate the racialized landscape of Milwaukee.
