Lok Siu

Lok Siu is Associate Professor and Head Graduate Advisor of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Her books include Memories of a Future Home: Diasporic Citizenship of Chinese in Panama (2005) and Asian Diasporas: New Formations, New Conceptions (2007, co-edited with Rhacel Parreñas). She is also co-editor of Gendered Citizenship: Transnational Perspectives on Knowledge Production, Political Activism, and Culture (2009), and her essays appear in various anthologies and journals. Her areas of expertise include Asians in Latin America, Chinese diaspora, citizenship/belonging, anthropology of food, and race, ethnic, and gender formation. She is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively titled Worlding: Japanese Latin Americans in WWII.
