Installing and Using Global Protect (VPN)
In order to use SQL-Developer remotely, you need to use the campus VPN. UWM employs Global Protect from Palo Alto Networks as its VPN. If you have already installed it for another course or other software, then you do not need to go through this additional step. If not, you would need to
- Install Global Protect
- Connect up before you use SQL-Developer
The instructions for installing and using Global Protect are available through campus technology services. There are separate instructions for Windows and Mac computers.

Keep in mind that the installation is a one-time activity. Connecting up is needed before you use SQL-Developer. You can connect up once in the day, and it should remain connected until you either disconnect or power down.
