David Stack PhD

Dr. David Stack serves as the Interim Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the University of Wisconsin System which comprises 13 institutions and 26 campuses. In this role, he is responsible for the leadership and guidance of a broad portfolio of enterprise technology operations including broadband networking, major academic and business applications, library automation and adoption of strategic new technologies that will add value to the University of Wisconsin System for learning, research, instruction and public service. Before coming to the system office, Stack spent 12 years as the Deputy Chief Information Officer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the last two years as Chief Operating Officer for IT services. He also served for seven years as Co-director of the Bioinformatics Key Function of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin. Stack’s first management responsibilities were in Client Services and he has served at the director level and above since 1999. Stack has held many national leadership responsibilities with professional societies, especially the EDUCAUSE organization where he currently participates on the Core Data Services Advisory Group.
