(I own a copy of the same book in the 1909 edition. It could serve as a possible base map but would need to be revised for clarity and especially to have the map of Wales revised to reflect early 13 C. boundaries. There is a map of Wales, c. 1200, in English Historical Documents, III, 1189-1327, ed. Harry Rothwell (London: Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1975), p. 424. There is also a map of Wales and the March at the end of the 13th century, which shows Llewelyn’s dominions in 1247 (Treaty of Woodstock), in T. F. Tout, The History of England, from the Accession of Henry III to the Death of Edward III, 1216-1377 (London: Longman, 1905), Map 1; available online at: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/16679/16679-h/images/wales1000.jpg. These two latter maps could be used to revise the Welsh portion of Dow’s map.)
