Murtaza Ameen

B.S. Civil Engineering | Expected Spring 2026 Focus: Geotechnical & Construction Materials

Murtaza Ameen is a Civil Engineering undergraduate focusing on geotechnical engineering and construction materials, with supporting interests in transportation systems. During his internship with CGC, he gained extensive field experience conducting on-site concrete testing and lab soil testing. He also gained experience in construction inspection with his internship at Waukesha Water Utility where he inspected the installation of water mains.

Murtaza’s interest in research was sparked by Professor Sobolev’s work in advanced construction materials. He is particularly focused on the performance, durability, and practical infrastructure applications of experimental materials.

Andrew Beall

Current Civil Engineering student at UWM, has been working with ANCL for about a year and a half. Has experience with 3d modelling along with design and drafting programs to 3d-print various tools and components.

Charlanique Hueneke

A senior in Civil Engineering, Char is passionate about creating a more sustainable, equitable world. She has enjoyed volunteering with the DNR removing invasive species and with Habitat for Humanity building affordable homes. Her most recent internship inspecting lead service line replacements with Clark Dietz and her subsequent receipt of the Wisconsin Wastewater Operators’ Association scholarship were factors in her choosing to focus on environmental and water.

Hayden Ingersoll

*Civil engineering student focused on freshwater sustainability and construction management
*Class of 2026

Cassandra is a Civil Engineering undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with hands-on experience in concrete materials research, ASTM standards, and laboratory testing. Shea has strong communication skills and experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams. She combines engineering expertise with a fine arts background, bringing creativity, attention to detail, and strong presentation skills to engineering projects.
Shea has pursued a professional path in engineering, combining technical expertise with leadership skills.  She is committed to continuous learning and professional development, focusing on advancing her career  while supporting women in STEM.
Within the Society of Women Engineers, Shea plays an active role, participating in committees and programs  that promote mentorship, educational outreach, and career development. Her involvement may include  organizing events, facilitating workshops, and supporting networking opportunities to connect female  engineers across industries.
Shea’s engagement with SWE reflects her dedication to creating inclusive spaces for women in engineering.  She contributes by mentoring younger members, promoting diversity in technical fields, and sharing insights  from her professional experiences to inspire others.

Alec Light White

(In progress) Civil Engineering, BSE, Spring 2028.

Alec Light White is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in Civil Engineering. He has been previously employed as a general undergraduate research assistant at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and has since transitioned to being a research assistant specifically involved in the ANCL through the university’s SURF program.

Alec’s main focus in the ANCL is assisting and conducting experiments in the Concrete Advancement Network’s Superhydrophobic/Icephobic/Photocatalytic (SIP) Project; however, he assists other projects when necessary.
